Dr. Sumner Slavin is an award-winning, board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Dr. Slavin specializes in aesthetic surgery of the breasts, body contouring and facial rejuvenation. There are many factors that have contributed to the excellence of Dr. Slavin’s practice, including his individualized style and commitment to knowledgeable and compassionate care; his overriding concern for and safety of his patients; and his extremely high level of competency. An Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Slavin’s career is a unique blend of academic achievement and technical expertise. He is an international figure in both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery, having served as a visiting professor at numerous institutions including the Royal College of Surgeons in England and the Royal Australian Plastic Surgical Society. Recently he was awarded the “Jubilee Medal” of the Swedish Plastic Surgical Society for a lifetime of accomplishment, specifically in the area of breast reconstruction. He has been an Associate Editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, a leading publication in his specialty.

Dr. Slavin believes plastic surgery is a constantly evolving, often trendy field in which the experience and judgment of the plastic surgeon can both assure the right result and help avoid choices that could be harmful to the patient. Currently, his practice emphasizes rejuvenation of the face, breasts and body. He uses the latest surgical and non-surgical techniques for face and neck lifting, and cosmetic enhancement of the eyelids and nose. In addition, his extensive experience and skill in the reconstruction of breasts following breast cancer treatment has put him in the forefront of successfully enhancing the area via lifting, reducing and augmentation. Dr. Slavin’s tummy tuck technique has earned him a reputation for the “Mommy Makeover” with the goal being a completely flat and firm abdomen. For ten years, Dr. Slavin served as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and has also been the Chairman of the Harvard Plastic Surgical Residency Executive Committee.
