Face Cosmetic Procedures
The nuances of facial rejuvenation require impeccable skill and vision. By shifting and augmenting facial mass, Dr. Slavin achieves youthful proportions and a restored balance of the face to create a beautiful and natural non-surgical look that’s completely unique to each patient.
Facelift (facioplasty)
As we age, the effects of gravity, sun exposure and the stresses of daily life take their toll on our faces. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth, the jawline slackens to create a jowly appearance and folds and fat deposits appear around the neck. A facelift is an effective procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the face and neck by removing excess fat, tightening skin and muscles and re-draping the skin of your face and neck, restoring a fresh, youthful look.
At its most basic, a facelift corrects the aging process from the corner of the eyes down to the collarbone, including the mid-face, cheeks, jawline and neck. A forehead/eyebrow lift repairs sagging of the eyebrows from the corner of the eye upward. Not all facelift patients need a forehead lift. For many patients, the eyebrows maintain an adequate position without anything being done for them.
As one of the foremost authorities on facial rejuvenation, Dr. Slavin uses a highly personalized approach to facelifts for a natural, unoperated look with the shortest recovery time and longest-lasting results possible. As facelifts are not a one-size-fits-all procedure, Dr. Slavin works closely with patients during the consultation process to evaluate their anatomy and explain which technique will yield the best result.
Neck Lift
Neck rejuvenation significantly improves the appearance of the neck and refines the jawline by removing excess or sagging skin, muscle banding in the neck that creates abnormal contours and “double-chin” fatty deposits. When the neck area doesn’t match the upper facial appearance, a neck lift may be a good solution.
This procedure may be done independently or in conjunction with a facelift. Dr. Slavin examines each individual carefully and determines the best technique to give the patient desired results, according to his or her anatomy.
For some, a neck lift can be achieved with liposuction alone, while for others, the neck can be corrected with an incision limited to the skin crease under the chin. Some patients may require an incision hidden behind the ear to correct significant skin laxity on the neck.
Ear (otoplasty)
An ear tuck can improve the overall appearance of the face and head by repositioning prominent ears closer to the head and reducing disproportionately large ears to achieve a natural balance with the rest of the face. Otoplasty can also correct unsatisfactory ear shape, and positions and proportions resulting from defects present at birth, caused by injury or developed over time.
Eyelid (blepharoplasty)
Eyelid surgery restores a refreshed, vibrant and youthful appearance by removing sagging, excess skin, tightening loose muscle and sculpting fat in the upper and lower eyelids. The surgery can improve drooping upper lids, wrinkles around the eye area and puffy bags below the eyes – features that make you look older and more tired than you feel, and may even interfere with your vision. Dr. Slavin tailors treatment to each patient’s needs, using a variety of eyelid procedures to rejuvenate the eye area while avoiding even slight changes to the eye’s natural shape.
Fat Graft
A fat grafting procedure involves the removal and relocation of the patient’s own body fat – typically from the abdomen, thighs or buttocks – to plump an area that has lost volume due to aging, injury, surgery or other causes. When used as a facial filler, fat grafting improves creased and sunken areas of the face and adds fullness to the lips and cheeks for a more youthful appearance.
Nose
(rhinoplasty)
Often referred to as “nose reshaping,” rhinoplasty improves the appearance and proportion of the nose, or corrects birth defects, injuries and breathing impairments associated with the nose. The surgery enhances facial harmony by reducing or increasing the size of the nose, changing the shape of the tip or bridge, narrowing the nostrils or changing the angle between the nose and upper lip. The methods Dr. Slavin uses for rhinoplasty – whether an open or closed procedure – depend on the patient’s condition and unique needs.
With a closed surgery, incisions are made inside the nose to release the nose from it’s architectural framework. This technique allows Dr. Slavin to work on the tip cartilages, the cartilage in the mid-vault of the nose, the nasal bones and the septum with no visible scars. On the other hand, an open rhinoplasty is another technique that may be preferable in certain situations where the anatomy is more complicated or the patient has had previous surgery of the nose. This technique leaves a relatively inconspicuous scar on the outside of the nose. Dr. Slavin helps the patient decide which approach is best for their needs.
Skin Cancer
Skin cancer, much like any form of cancer, may require surgery to remove harmful growths. Dr. Slavin surgically removes cancerous and other skin lesions using specialized techniques to preserve patients’ health and appearance. Additionally, Dr. Slavin performs a wide range of skin grafts and tissue transfers to restore the skin cancer site to the appearance of the surrounding skin.
Reconstruction Procedures
Facial reconstructive surgery makes it possible to correct many facial flaws that can undermine self-confidence. These procedures can also rebuild a person’s face after trauma and illness, leading to an improved self-image after a devastating experience.
